After having completed my surgery for breast cancer I had two very successful virtual telephone consultations with Doctor Shiroma De Silva-Minor. She put me at ease straight away enabling me to ask my questions and not to forget to mention any worries that I may have had. She answered all my questions at great length and suggested further medications that may be beneficial to me. I very much appreciate the care that she and her team have given me and am unable to make any constructive suggestions for improvements at this time.

I was diagnosed with HER positive breast cancer in 2015 and Dr de Silva Minor was amazing, arranging my radiotherapy treatments in Oxford, and was always there to listen to me and answer my many questions, it was a scary time, nobody in my family had suffered with breast cancer before and none of my friends either, so I didn't know what to expect, having Dr. de Silva Minor to talk through everything really helped. Unfortunately in 2019 I was diagnosed with breast cancer again, the other breast this time, and it was diagnosed as a Triple Negative cancer, which was a huge shock. Yet again Dr de Silva Minor was there for me, remembering everything from 4 years before, and she got me through my chemotherapy (a new experience for me) and then again my radiotherapy, she helped me get Healthcare at Home for my chemo treatments, this really helped me as we were in lockdown due to COVID at that time so having the chemo nurses come to me was a great relief, and an amazing experience. She then arranged my radiotherapy at a more local GenesisCare facility, she called me regularly, really helping me understand the body changes I was experiencing and just keeping me calm throughout. I would thoroughly recommend Dr de Silva Minor she is compassionate, knowledgeable, and really cares about her patients.

Having being diagnosed with male breast cancer at the age of 38 and it being far less common than female breast cancer, it has been a tough and anxious time for me. However, Dr De Silva-Minor has always filled me the confidence I have needed by providing me with the most advanced and up to date treatment available. Her vast experience is obtained not just from the UK, but globally. Dr De Silva-Minor and her team are never too busy to help me with any questions or problems and they have always taken a personal interest in me and my family. I would highly recommend Dr De Silva-Minor as an Oncologist and would not change her for any reasons what so ever.

Ultimately what can I say apart from the words 'Breast Cancer Free' 3 years after diagnosis, there are insufficient words to express my gratitude. Dr De Silva-Minor is compassionate, and clearly an expert in her field. My only criticism (which is definitely of me rather than her) is that I did often feel a little blinded by the science, that said, I am a self confessed imbecile when it comes to the workings of the human body and the science behind it. I personally never felt the need to understand, I just did what I was told. It worked for me!
